Mrs. Washington AMERICA will be held June 15, 7:00PM 2019 at the Kenneth Minnaert Theater  for the Arts in Olympia.
Welcome to MRS. Washington & MISS Washington for America

The Hope Heart Institute is a non-profit cardiovascular research and education institute with a 50-year history of revolutionary medical advances and educational curricula that makes heart disease - America’s No. 1 cause of death - more treatable, beatable, and preventable.

The mission of the Hope Heart Institute is serving humanity through cardiovascular research and education. They are dedicated to preventing and treating heart and blood vessel disease, and to improving the physical, emotional and spiritual quality of life for all at risk of - or affected by - cardiovascular disease.

Throughout the year, pageant contestants help raise money to support the research and heart disease education efforts of the Hope Heart Institute. Contestants also attend events throughout the Puget Sound area and are especially focused on raising the visibility of how heart disease affects women, ways to prevent it, and how to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack, because the symptoms are different for women then for men.

Go to www.firstgiving.com and then enter the name of your favorite Mrs. Washington America Pageant contestant into the search function. This will bring up the contestant’s fundraising page where you can donate money to the Hope Heart Institute. All proceeds go directly to the Hope Heart Institute and are tax deductible.

JoAnna Flagan was born on March 27, 1979 in Anchorage, Alaska.  She was raised in a family of four older brothers and at the age of 8, moved with her family to Washington state where she graduated from Morton High School.

After school, she lived in a group home in Centralia and worked in Olympia as an office clerk for the Department of Human Resources. In 2002 JoAnna moved to eastern Washington to be closer to her parents.  She now resides in Moses Lake where she has been working at Wal-Mart for the past 12 years and lives in her own apartment with her cat “Shady Lady”.

JoAnna is a hard worker and enjoys dancing, swimming, bowling with her friends, volunteering at the local library, participating in Special Olympics and just vegging out at home with her cat, watching tv and videos.  She actively advocates for the disabled, firmly believing that they can and do contribute to their community and accomplish much more than most people believe they can.
